Road Trauma Support Services Victoria (RTSSV) was founded in 1994 after a group of people whose lives had been directly impacted by road trauma joined with professionals working in the area to provide a speacialist support service.
Jeanette Suhr, with the support and asistance of Colleen Hall, founder of the Road Trauma Support Team in Tasmania, set up Road Trauma Support Team Victoria.
Along with 21 other volunteers, $5,000, a mobile phone and an office set up in her home, Jeanette and her team began providing support to those who had been impacted by road trauma.
During the last 17 years RTSSV has grown and now offers statate-wide counselling and education services.
In 1998, RTSSV was awarded a Victoria Day Award for its work in the community.
In 2003, three members of RTSSV (Tony Grisby, Colleen Hall and Jeanette) received Centenary Medals for the work with Road Trauma Support Team Launceston and Victoria, and in 2008 Jeanette was awarded an OAM for her work with RTSSV.
